Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Clarpa uses cookies and similar technologies on clarpa.io, in accordance with the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies such as local storage to remember preferences. Cookies can be "session" (deleted when you close the browser) or "persistent" (remain until they expire or you delete them).
2. How we use cookies
We categorize cookies as follows:
Strictly necessary (essential)
These cookies are required for the Service to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core features. Under EU law, we do not need your consent for strictly necessary cookies, but we inform you about them.
| Provider / name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk (authentication) | Keep you signed in, secure sessions, prevent fraud | Session / up to 1 year |
| Clarpa (cookie consent) | Remember your cookie preference choice | Persistent (local storage) |
Functional (preferences)
These store choices that improve your experience but are not strictly required for the Service to work.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| theme (local storage) | Remember light or dark mode preference | Until cleared |
Analytics cookies
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we introduce them in the future, we will update this policy and request your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
3. Third-party cookies
When you sign in with Google, Google may set cookies according to their own policy. Clerk, our authentication provider, sets cookies necessary for sign-in and security. We do not control third-party cookies — please refer to Clerk's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy for more information.
4. Cookie consent banner
When you first visit Clarpa, we show a cookie banner explaining our use of cookies. You can choose "Accept" or "Essential only". Both choices currently result in the same cookies being used, as we only use essential and functional storage. If we add optional cookies later, "Essential only" will block them.
5. Managing cookies
You can control cookies through:
- Our cookie banner when you first visit the site
- Your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies
- Clearing local storage in your browser (this will reset theme and consent preferences)
Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in or using core features of Clarpa.
6. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy when our use of cookies changes. Check this page for the latest version.
